Hawaii

We were blessed yet once again to visit the land of Aloha! This was Josh's 3rd trip! Can you believe that? It was my 6th. I don't know how many more times Scott has been, aside from the fact that he was born in Honolulu and lived there for a little while. I certainly love variety and want to travel all over the world, but I can go to Hawaii over and over again. It's impossible to get sick of it.

It was a great time all around. MUCH better than last time. When we went in April, we had never before been on a 2-week vacation with just the 3 of us, and by that I mean non-stop time with Josh. Ha! Scott especially was shell-shocked. He'd been in Afghanistan for a year, returning in January. So 3 months later, he was still getting used to Josh again. Because we moved around to a couple different islands, Josh didn't adapt well with the sleeping. Up until then, he had never slept with us. By the time it was over, we couldn't get him to sleep alone and it took 2 weeks after we got home to keep him in his own bed. However, this time was great. We brought a kid-size air mattress and he slept on that the entire time. It worked out great!

Scott worked the first week, but then we stayed a few days afterwards to enjoy Oahu. Josh and I kept ourselves occupied at the beach or the pool, and even visited the Honolulu Zoo one day. I also fell in love with these popsicles (nothing special, or Hawaiian about them) from the snack bar by the pool. Josh and I shared one almost every day until he decided he didn't like Mommy taking a bite of his treat. So then we each had our own.

The scenery is obviously amazing and so relaxing. When we vacation, our only objective is pool or beach in the morning or afternoon? Aside from all that outdoor water time, another one of my favorite things about Hawaii is all the delicious food. As you can imagine there are lots of Asian restaurants of all kinds, mostly Asian-fusion and Hawaiian. So yummy. I'm not supposed to eat a lot of fish while pregnant, but I couldn't help swapping plates with Scott half-way through our meal at Roy's. I had an awesome steak but he had a delicious white fish with Asian flavors; I forget but I think it was opah. Mmm, makes me hungry now.

Towards the end of our stay, we went to a luau which is always fun. Josh enjoyed himself too.

It's always nice to be home, but I can't help wonder when our next trip will be. . . . :)
