Our Little Swimmer

We are so proud of our little swimmer! Josh turned 2 on April 13th, and had finished his first swimming lessons before the big day! Although we don't have a swimming pool, we are very much a "pool family." We knew we'd be in the water a lot this summer and wanted Josh to not only have fun, but to have confidence in the water and know what to do in the worst case scenario of him falling in.

He likes to swim to and from the steps.

And of course back and forth between Mommy and Daddy. . .

Here, I'm in the water looking up at Josh.

We had one span of no swimming for about 6 weeks. So the next time he got in, he had to get used to being underwater again. Here, he's building up confidence again. :)

Josh really likes turtles (which he insists are "gecko!"s) and alligators, and likes to pretend to be them too.
I just thought this was a cute little feet picture. :)

We tried to train with goggles, but he never liked them. So he opens his eyes in the water!

Josh was a great example of a very young (usually no younger than 2 years) toddler who resisted much (I think mainly because the water was still cool in April) but still learned all that he needed in his beginner swimming lessons. Laura George of Little Flippers Swim did an awesome job with him. By the time we went on our first vacation in late April, Josh was suprising us by jumping in the water without being asked. We had to stop and have another lesson about not going in the water until Mommy or Daddy are ready for him! :)
